Artist statement:

“With the unconscious as my muse – my paintings intend to fuse abstractions, objects, and figures into esoteric visual puzzles that challenge the viewer to ponder and decipher. My work is directly drawn from symbols and motifs seen in dreams, hypnagogic states, and waking visions, and serve as a personal exploration into the mind’s eye; a part of myself I feel deeply disconnected from. During the making of a painting, I attempt to analyze its meaning in relation to lived experiences, memories, and the collective knowledge of my contemporary cohort. My creative practice is informed by dream journaling, studies into Jungian theories, drawing habitually, and mindfulness. This imagery produces an ever-evolving visual diary and stems from themes such as the experience of being a woman living chronic illness, pain, childhood memories, and a (dis)connection with nature.”
